January is quiet on the water, which makes it a great month to fish. Our Briggs guides run full-day drift boat trips on the Rogue, chasing winter steelhead with nobody else around.

Spring in the desert

April belongs to the Owyhee. This remote desert canyon only runs for a few weeks each spring, and it's one of the wildest trips we offer. The Rogue is fishing too.

May is opening month. The Rogue season starts, Hells Canyon gets going, and the trail is cool enough for our lodge hikes. It's a great time to beat the summer crowds.

June is when the season really opens up. Snowmelt keeps the Salmon and Hells Canyon running big, the Rogue warms up for swimming, and the days are the longest of the year.

Peak summer

July

July is peak season on every river we run. Warm water, hot sunny days and beach camps on the Salmon make this the classic summer river trip month.

August

August means warm water and technical rapids. Rivers drop and clear, beach camps get bigger, and the Rogue fishing lodge trip starts up late in the month.

September is one of our favorite months. The crowds thin out, the light turns gold, fishing picks up on the Rogue, and the lodge hikes are back on the trail.

October is fall fishing season. The Rogue lodge fishing trip and our drift boat days are in full swing, and the canyon trails are at their best.

November is drift boat season on the Rogue. The summer crowds are long gone, and a day on the water with a Briggs guide is the best way to see the canyon this time of year.

OUR SEASON

A Year on Our Rivers

Spring opens on the Owyhee in April. The Rogue and Hells Canyon start running in May, and by June and July every river we run is in season, with big water on the Salmon and warm swimming days on the Rogue.

Late summer brings warm water and technical rapids. Fall is for fishing, canyon trail hikes and quieter rivers, and through the winter our Briggs guides keep fishing the Rogue from drift boats.
